Opportunities for Students
We offer a wide range of opportunities for students at every level:

• Marching Band: Required for all freshmen and open to upperclassmen, the marching band is a cornerstone of our program, providing exciting performance opportunities and competitive experiences.
• Jazz Ensemble: A class focused on jazz performance, style, and improvisation.
• Concert Ensembles: Including auditioned-level groups that allow students to refine their skills and perform at festivals.
• Leadership Opportunities: Students can grow as leaders through section leader positions, drum major roles, and other mentorship opportunities.
• Competitions and Festivals: Our marching band competes at a high level, and our concert bands participate in respected music festivals.
• Solo and Ensemble Festival: A chance for students to showcase their individual talents and collaborate in small groups.
• Travel: Every two years, students have the opportunity to travel and perform in exciting new places.

Expectations for Students
We hold our students to high standards, helping them develop responsibility and discipline alongside their musical skills:

• Punctuality and Preparedness: Students are expected to arrive on time, ready to rehearse and perform.
• Schedules: All rehearsal and performance dates are posted on our website.
• Required Equipment: We do not provide flutes, clarinets, alto saxophones, trumpets, or trombones — students playing these instruments must have their own.

How Parents Can Support the Band Program
Parental involvement is crucial to the success of our program, and there are many ways you can help:

• Join the Band Boosters: A group of dedicated parents who help with fundraising, event planning, and program support.
• Volunteer at Events: Help with logistics, chaperoning, and behind-the-scenes support.
• Participate in Fundraising: Assist in selling and promoting fundraising efforts to support band activities and travel.
• Stay Engaged in Your Student’s Experience:
  • Attend concerts and performances.
  • Encourage private lessons to help your student grow musically.
  • Ask about their day and their experiences in the band.
  • Hold them to high expectations in both their musical and academic work.
