Wind Ensemble
This course is designed for those students who have mastered their particular instrument. This band performs at no fewer than five concerts during the school year, culminating in a feature concert in May. This band also performs at graduation. The band uniform for the men consists of a full black tuxedo and the uniform for the women is a black and white formal dress. (There will be a fitting session at the start of the school year for the tuxedo and dress).
Students in this band are also a part of marching band and will act as section leaders. These duties include sectional work and leading by example during performances. ALL EXTRA REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES ASSOCIATED WITH MARCHING BAND ARE REQUIRED. This includes, but is not limited to, a week-long marching band summer camp, home football games, home men’s and women’s basketball games, and community parades. A marching band uniform will be issued at the start of the school year and all students are required to pay a $10.00 uniform cleaning fee.
Any student using an instrument owned by School District #131 will be required to pay a $50.00 per semester user fee. This fee helps to defray the cost of any/all repairs for the instruments. ALL EXTRA PRACTICES AND PERFORMANCES ARE REQUIRED AS PART OF THIS CLASS. It is the individual responsibility of each band member to have their schedules free and clear of any/all conflicts that may arise concerning band performances. This includes informing all coaches and/or employers who may also be involved. This course is weighted as honors.
